Trekking

Overview

The Chipla Kedar Trek, also known as Chiplakedar or Chiplakund Yatra, is one of the most sacred and scenic high-altitude treks in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand.
Starting from Dharchula, this route takes you through ancient villages, alpine meadows, waterfalls, and snow-clad peaks, finally reaching the serene Chiplakund Lake at an altitude of about 4,876 meters (16,000 ft).
It is often called “Gupt Kailash”, or the Hidden Kailash, because of its deep spiritual connection and breathtaking Himalayan landscape.

Spiritual & Cultural Significance

  • Chipla Kedar is worshipped as the abode of Lord Shiva. Every two years, thousands of devotees from nearby villages undertake a 5-day pilgrimage (locally called Jaat) to pay their respects.
During the journey, traditional songs, rituals, and the strong faith of the locals make this trek not just an adventure but a divine experience.
